The history of the Melbourne Osaka Cup is a rich one and on each occasion from 1987 until the event in 2007 a Race Book was published. Gathering information and photographs from across each event, the books were presented in English and Japanese. We’ve been able to secure copies of these books and they’re a great read, featuring a profile on each competitor and highlights in a detailed Race Summary. Over the next few months in the lead up to the Sundance Marine Melbourne Osaka Cup, we’ll be posting those Race Summaries year by year and choosing some of the many photographs from the books to display as well.
So from 1987 here’s the first one – and you’ll see that thirty years ago, race regulations as well as the technology were quite different than now !
