Sailor Moon

Skipper:Christopher Canty

Co-Skipper:Shona Forsyth

Sail Number:6232

Design:Northshore 370

Chris Canty, an experienced sailor from Pittwater, NSW, with his life partner Shona Forsyth will take on the Melbourne Osaka race aboard a Northshore 370 Sailor Moon.

Chris has an extensive sailing background, including completing a world circumnavigation in 2017-18 with his son, Ben, aboard their previous yacht, Galaxy III.

The yacht, which was carefully chosen due to its solid history and careful ownership, has undergone significant modifications.

For Chris, preparation is key, drawing from his experience circumnavigating the globe. He understands the unpredictable nature of the race, especially the tricky doldrums, where knowledge of currents and patience will be crucial. They are building their skills through safety drills and are now focused on gaining as much double-handed sailing experience as possible. Their goal is simple: sail safely, keep the boat balanced, and embrace the adventure rather than focus on winning.

For them, the journey to Osaka is about the challenge and the experience.
