It’s 30 days until the main start of the 2025 Melbourne Osaka Cup, and many teams are now here in Melbourne or on their way. There’s a buzz of activity, with crews meticulously preparing in multiple dimensions for the 5,500 nautical mile journey ahead.
Deadlines are looming for crews to submit their paperwork with crews of Jazz Player and Lord Jiminy undertaking their qualifying passages. Mitsuo on Jazz Player posting the joy of celebrating a birthday on Bass Strait.
Inspection completed for 1122 Trekkee
1122 Trekkee, Magellan, Fika and Curious Roo were on the hard stand for maintenance, antifouling and keel and rudder inspections.
Meanwhile, Joker X2 and White Spirit crews were busy unloading their boat for recertifications of their handicap measurements whilst Kevin and Darryl on Roaring Forty are dodging rain and racing dolphins as they transit from Hobart to Melbourne.
Getting to the startline is the biggest challenge for many. With various audits and communication checks now underway, our crews are reducing their “to do lists” and are always one step closer to being on that start line.
Onshore, our on-water race management teams are in full swing, fine-tuning their schedules, teams, updating knowledge, completing audits, preparing container manifests, planning the social events in Melbourne and preparing to provide seamless support for the competitors once the race begins.
Our race partners, the Hokko Club have inspected the temporary marina at the Expo site, ensuring everything is in place for the boats’ arrival and the flags are well and truely flying around the Melbourne host club, Sandringham Yacht Club.
The countdown is on, and every detail is falling into place as we get closer to race day. Let the final preparations begin.
