Almost 7 Weeks in

Still going, Curious Roo update just in.

The ‘screaming goat’ backup autopilot died a horrible death after just a week, so we’ve been hand steering ever since, occasionally letting the bungee cords take a turn. It’s pretty exhausting, so we’ve shortened the watches and eased up on the sailing angles.

Fishing is officially over, too. We landed a 4-foot mahi mahi that filled the fridge to capacity.

Fortunately, the Kuroshio Current (the Black Current) arrived just in time. We spotted an eddy heading north and managed to hitch a ride. With nearly 4 knots of current under us, we’re making 7 knots over the ground, even in these light airs of just 5–7 knots.

Only a day or so to go now.
