Race Update – Saturday, March 8th, 6 PM
For the first two days, Neil and Peter, aboard Curious Roo, their S&S34 yacht, enjoyed a glorious Bass Strait crossing. With steady winds and smiles all around, they made their way past Wilson Promontory, sailing at a comfortable 5–6 knots.

However, as they turned north, stronger winds revealed an issue with their furler. Displaying quick thinking, seamanship, and ingenuity, the duo carried out an unassisted repair using onboard spares and tools while taking shelter at the top of Flinders Island.
Back in the race on Wednesday 9 am, progress was slow at first as they found their rhythm again. By 6 PM on Saturday, March 8, Curious Roo was last seen off the coast near Narooma.
Race Director Neville Rose confirmed “that they have ideal conditions ahead, with 10–20 knot easterlies all the way to Sydney.”

Next up: Three more boats hit the start line at 4 PM on Sunday, March 9, from Portsea!
