Taking out Line Honors (shortest elapsed time) in the Sundanxe Marine Melbourne Osaka Cup at 3:21am this morning JST was Chinese Whisper. The last boat to start only just over 3 weeks ago, Rupert Henry and Greg O’Shea brought the big boat past the entire fleet to arrive in Osaka first and in doing so has broken the race record.
Having sailed hard to arrive at the entrance to Osaka Bay, they then had to be patient as the wind dropped back to almost nothing. In the darkness out on the Bay, it was extremely hard to see the huge sails and so photography was almost impossible. After crossing the line, Rupert and Greg lit up the night sky with a light display before pulling down the sails and heading for their mooring and the presentation ceremony at OHYC club rooms.

今朝早朝3:21(日本時間)にサンダンス マリン メルボルン大阪CUPのファーストホーム(歴代最速記録)を獲得したのは、Chinese Whisperでした。この最後のボートがスタートしたのは、たったの3週間前であり、Rupert HenryとGreg O’Sheaはこのビッグボートを用いて全てのフリートを抜きさり、これまでのコースレコードを破って最初に大阪に到着しました。
大阪湾の入り口にセーリングでたどり着くのは困難で、ほとんど無風になるほど風が落ちるコンディションの中我慢を続けました。湾内の暗闇の中では、大きなセールを見つけるのは非常に難しく、写真に収めるのはほとんど不可能でした。ゴールラインを越えた後、Rupert とGregは、メインセールを下ろす前に夜の空に向けて光のディスプレイを行い、OHYCのクラブハウスでフィニッシュセレモニーを行うために係留に向かいました。
