A regular competitor in the race to Osaka in recent years has been Spirit of Downunder with veteran skipper Laurie Ford. But that’s all about to change. After completing in countless races over the years, Laurie has decided that it’s time to part with his 12.19 meter yacht and has put it on the market.
Spirit of Downunder has an enviable finishing record being in the top 5 finishers in three Melbourne to Osaka two handed races, has taken two Line Honours in Melbourne to Hobart Westcoasters, and two ORCV Ocean Racing Championships. We’re not sure what adventure Laurie is likely to take on next but we can be sure that with Spirit so race ready, there’s a good chance we may see her lining up again in 2025 in new hands. To take a good look at the boat, you can find details here on Yachthub.
