Once again over this past week as news of activity from our competitors has come in, we’ve shared posted on Facebook. Here’s a brief summary of some of those stories.
今週もメル阪出場者たちのニュースがいろいろと届いて、私たちはフェイスブックにシェアしてきました。ここに少しまとめてみました。
One of the main boats we followed was Meltemi with Ian and Lyn taking on their qualifying passage with a trip to Sydney. Everything went really well on the journey, with a couple of small mechanical issues showing up and solutions soon found for them. Some strong northerly conditions put Meltemi at anchor in Eden for 24 hours but following that it was a smooth run to Sydney, with the arrival on Thursday night. Ian and Lyn will stay in Sydney until after New Year when they’ll head back home to Melbourne.
メルテミ号のイアンとリンはダブルハンドの実績確保のためにシドニーへ向かいました。小さな機械的な問題がいくつか出ましたが、解決策が見つかり、すべてうまくいきました。メルテミ号は強い北風で24時間エデンに足止めされましたが、概ねスムーズで木曜の夜にはシドニーへ着きました。イアンとリンはシドニーで新年を迎え、その後メルボルンへ帰って来ます。
A boat heading in the opposite direction was Utopia 2001 with John and Steve on board. They arrived early Sunday morning after a non stop trip from Mooloolaba and then it was up on the hard stand early in the week for some jobs to be done. New anti-foul, a bow thruster prop and a general tidy up and the boat back in the water on Saturday afternoon. Everything’s set now for John and Steve to join a number of our competitors in the Melbourne to Hobart race which starts on December 27th.
逆にこちらへ向かうユートピア2001号にはジョンとスティーブが乗っています。彼らは日曜日の朝早くムールーラバ(クイーンズランド ブリスベンの北)からノンストップ航海の後、メルボルンに着きました。それから週の前半、ハードスタンドに上げていくつかの作業を終えました。新しい防汚塗装、エンジンとプロペラ、整理整頓… ジョンは土曜日の午後、ヨットを水上に戻しました。全ては12月27日にスタートする、メル阪出場者も出るメルボルン-ホバートレースへ向けてセッティングしました。
Runaway made it onto our Facebook page as well this week when Daniel posted some shots of the boat having been put back into the water after a three month refit. Daniel and Tom will be back in action now, fine tuning things on the boat before departing from Adelaide to head to Melbourne in February.
ダニエルは3ヵ月のリビルトの後、水上に戻ったランウェイ号の写真をフェイスブックに投稿しました。ダニエルとトムはファインチューニングを施したあと、2月にアデレードからメルボルンにやって来ます。
Since their departure a few weeks ago, Bartolome has made steady progress south on her way from Osaka to Melbourne. With communications scarce, it’s been a matter of checking their position on the Tracker and then on Friday, news came through of an ETA for the end of their 2nd leg to Ponhpei. They’ll now take a few days rest and then on December 27th they’ll set off on the third leg of the journey. Having had a crew of 3 on board so far, this third leg will be just Kei San and Masa San and all going well it’ll get them into Brisbane by mid January.
数週間前に大阪を出発したバルトロメ号は着実にメルボルンに向かっています。通信が不十分なので、トラッカーで彼らの位置をチェックしている状態です。金曜日、彼らのポンペイへ向かう第2レグの終わりにETAからのニュースが届きました。彼らは数日の休養の後、12月27日に第3レグの旅に出ます。これまでクルーは3人でしたが、第3レグはケイさんとマサさん2人になります。1月中旬にブリスベンに入る予定です。
Our final piece of news just prior to writing is the departure of Arcadia from Osaka as well. Jukka and John were farewelled by a large group of well wishers and will head south following a similar route to Bartolome. Jukka and John will do their entire cruise to Australia double handed. We’ll have some more details in a feature story on Arcadia in the next few days.
最後に飛び込んで来たニュースはアルカディア号が大阪を出航したというものでした。ユッカとジョンは大勢に見送られて出航し、バルトロメ号と同じようなルートを取って南下します。ユッカとジョンはオーストラリアまでの全工程をダブルハンドで航海します。アルカディア号の続報は数日の後、報告があるでしょう。
