As with every event since 1987, the Melbourne Osaka Cup 1999 saw the production of a book packed full of information and photographs of the race.
Similar to other years, this book outlined the history of the event alongside the unique features and challenges that this race presented. As a special feature, it focused on the weather, with analysis of the conditions by a meteorologist for various stages of the race. Alongside this some of the E-mails from the competitors were published, E-mail being a relatively new addition to communications in such an event.
We’ve reproduced some of that content for this look at the Melbourne Osaka Cup 1999 and would suggest that there’s lessons to be learned here for all crews as they line up for the 2018 event.
